What resolutions did you make for the New Year? Lose Weight? Exercise more? Quit procrastinating? Here are a few resolutions that are a much better blessing to you and others.

Put Christ first. Of all your activities and interests, make Christ your highest priority. Let Him reign in your life. When you put Christ first, the other things don’t seem so crucial.

Give something to those you meet. Give them a smile or a listening ear. Give your full attention. Give a compliment or a word of encouragement. Giving these kinds of things will change the world, one person at a time.

Take the high road. Every situation offers a high road and a low road and it’s clear which is which. Taking the high road means going the extra distance, being nicer than you need to be, giving more than required, taking less than entitled. Take the high road.

Remember that you’re not an only child. Jesus taught us to pray to ‘Our Father’.  God is not your private Father. Children who grow up in a large family learn that there are certain things you can’t ask your father to do because there wouldn’t be enough for all your brothers and sisters. You’re not an only child. God has many other children. So you can’t ask for personal advantage that will come at the expense of another. When you pray, consider what your request will mean to others.

Choose these and you and those around you will be blessed in 2017.
